Helping the Rostov region benefit from its competitive advantages

15.02.2012

Dr. Vasily Vysokov, chairman of the board of trustees of the Endowment Fund for Education and Science in the Southern Federal District and chairman of Center-invest Bank’s board of directors, has been elected chairman of the Commission for Economic Development, Enterprise and Innovation of the Public Chamber of the Rostov Region.

As stipulated by regional law No. 619-ЗS dated 6 July 2011 «On the Public Chamber of the Rostov Region», the chamber brings together 45 representatives of non-governmental organisations and public associations and its task is to help resolve tensions between the interests of citizens and efforts to achieve regional development goals. To this end, the chamber members consider and defend citizens’ interests, and, taking into account the initiatives of citizens, they prepare recommendations and liaise with government authorities.

Speaking about the tasks that lie ahead, Dr. Vasily Vysokov said:
«My involvement in the work of the chamber will be focused on helping the Rostov region benefit from its global competitive advantages: the advantages of its diversified economy, tradition of enterprise, and highly educated young people, should be complemented by modern laws and effective government agencies that use international best practice.»

Dr. Vysokov and Center-invest Bank experts regularly hold enterprise skills training courses for students, higher education teaching staff, businesses startups, and specialists from local government agencies, so that they can compete in the global economy. A methodological tool, «a modernization matrix», has been developed and launched for this purpose.

This tool draws on Dr. Vysokov’s 40 years’ experience of producing and monitoring development plans and programmes for the Rostov region and the Russian economy, as well as his considerable practical experience of project implementation.

Established in 1992 by southern Russia’s first privatized enterprises, Center-invest Bank has become known as a «reform laboratory» in the region and it has established successful partnerships with international financial institutions. It is southern Russia’s leading bank and the only one with a Ba3 rating from Moody’s.

The decision to elect the head of our successful bank as chairman of a committee of the Rostov Region Public Chamber is further evidence of the high regard in which Center-invest Bank and its social projects are held.
