Center-invest Bank offsets carbon credits

21.07.2025

Center-invest Bank acquired carbon credits from the energy generation company PJSC EL5-Energo and used them to offset its own carbon footprint and reduce the bank’s greenhouse gas emissions. The offset of 300 carbon credits by the bank was registered in the Russian Federation’s carbon credit registry, reducing the bank’s carbon footprint by an amount equivalent to 300 tons of CO2.

The carbon credits from PJSC EL5-Energo are the verified outcome of a climate project following the construction of a new renewable energy source generation facility — the Azovskaya Wind Farm. The Azovskaya Wind Farm became the first wind power project registered in 2024 as a climate project in the Russian carbon credit registry, preventing greenhouse gas emissions through the generation of green electricity.

Center-invest Bank is a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Banking and the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative and strives to minimize its environmental impact. Since 2005, the bank invested over 24 billion rubles in 24 thousand energy-efficient client projects, which helped reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 282 thousand tons.

The bank utilizes solar panels on its head office roof, purchases green certificates for solar power supply, tracks resource consumption, and consistently continues its work to reduce its carbon footprint.
