Center-invest Bank enters the list of the Global CIO Project of the Year award winners for the third time. The Mir Pay IT project by Center-invest Bank at SFU carried out in collaboration with the team of experts from Mir payment system was recognized as the best in the Southern Federal District.
Global CIO, the largest professional association of digital transformation leaders in Russia, announced the winners of the Project of the Year 2022 contest. Out of 369 projects presented at the contest, the solution developed by Center-invest Bank that allows to use a smartphone and the Mir Pay app for identification in the infrastructure of Southern Federal University won the regional nomination.
«Our team was honored to be the first to bring the Russian technological innovations of the Mir payment system to the Don Land and to the educational environment of our home region. It is encouraging that the contest jury, which consisted of the country’s best IT directors, got so interested in this project. We take great pride in setting an example for the industry, are always willing to share our expertise, and cordially invite young people to join us and be among the first», stated Yury Bogdanov, Center-invest Bank’s Director for Innovations.
The Mir Pay app is designed for contactless payment with an Android smartphone. For Center-invest Bank and the Mir payment system the primary objective of the project was to promote non-financial services of the app to increase the range of functions offered and enhance the security and financial transaction-related activity of the national card users.
«SFU was the first university in Russia to use the Mir Pay application as means of identification for entry on the educational institution’s grounds. Prior to that, our Pay service could only be used to make purchases. I have no doubt that in the future other schools of higher education, including the major ones, will adopt these advanced practices of Rostov University,» said Maria Tochilova, Director for Products, Digital and Technological Services Development of the Mir payment system.
The ease of using a single digital tool that functions as both a bank card and a key to access the university’s infrastructure, including access control and management system, the library and other services used in the educational process and requiring identification and secure authorization, was highly rated by students and lecturers at SFU.
«The Center-invest Bank team’s professionalism has proven once again that automation and optimization of business operations and banking technology is an indispensable prerequisite of effective development. The Bank has been a long-time partner of Southern Federal University and supports the project activities of our students by participation in investing sessions, hackathons, etc. In turn, SFU students take part, and quite frequently succeed, in the Bank’s competitive initiatives,» pointed out Pavel Makhno, SFU Vice Rector for Educational Activities and Information Technologies.
Earlier on, the Bank’s Fraud Monitoring of Currency Exchange Transactions at Bank Cash Desks IT solution won the contest in 2020, and the Front Office Customer Service System project was recognized as the best in 2018.
