Last week experts from Center-invest Bank attended two major international events, where they spoke about the bank’s experience of addressing global economic challenges at the local level.
The first event was the forum on “Building a Global Energy Efficiency Financing Alliance”, held by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEPFI) on
The Forum was attended by over 50 commercial banks, international, national, regional and microfinance institutions, and also European Commission representatives, government officials from a number of European countries, and international NGOs.
Sergei Smirnov, deputy chairman of the Executive Board of Center-invest Bank, spoke during the first panel discussion. Mr Smirnov shared the bank’s experience of financing energy efficiency projects in southern Russia. Сenter-invest Bank’s total investment to date in energy efficiency projects exceeds RUB11bn. We have financed energy efficiency projects in the industrial, agricultural and service sectors, the housing and communal services sector, and the private residential sector. These projects have reduced annual CO2 emissions by 147,000 tonnes. Our colleagues were very interested in our approach to energy efficiency lending, and our methods will be adopted by other banks from various countries.
